William “Bill” LaVerne Crewe, Jr. passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, January 31st. A forty-year resident of Pepperell, Massachusetts, Bill was born and grew up in Buffalo, New York before moving to Pepperell in 1982.
After working in the lumber industry for decades, Bill founded Better Cabinet Distributors in 1992. Through his company, he helped make beautiful homes for families across New England. He was an active member of St. David’s Church in Pepperell for many years including serving on the Vestry as treasurer. Bill had a deep love for the Lockeport region of Nova Scotia, Canada, traveling there regularly throughout his life and forming close friendships. In 1998 he and wife Linda achieved a lifelong dream of building a home there where he loved to host family and friends. Be it in Pepperell or Nova Scotia, Bill’s greatest joy after his family was a house full of people.
Bill was predeceased by his wife Linda and sister Penelope. He is survived by his sons Peter and Nathaniel, daughter-in-law Megan, and grandson Finley. After Linda’s passing in 2010, Bill maintained lifelong relationships with Linda’s family: Marcia Segelstein, Christian Van Dyck, and Timothy Van Dyck and their respective families. The Crewe family would also like to acknowledge Bill’s close friends Timothy and Linda Halligan, Debra Hamilton, and Judith Potter with whom Bill enjoyed many a good drink and game of pool over the years.
Relatives and friends will gather for visiting hours in the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Friday, February 7th from 4 – 7 pm, and again on Saturday, February 8th at 10:30 am followed by Bill’s Memorial Service at 11 am. Burial in Nova Scotia will be private.
In lieu of flowers, people are encouraged to make donations to the Little Harbor Volunteer Fire Department ℅ Kim Ringer, 90 East Ragged Island Rd. Sable River, NS Canada B0T 1V0
