Wilfred F. Murphy

Wilfred F. Murphy, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at the Apple Valley Center in Ayer. He was the beloved husband of Theresa L. (Reinold) Murphy with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage on May 11th. Wilfred was born in Beverly on May 18, 1925. He was the son of the late Daniel and Ruth (Donahue) Murphy. He proudly served his country during WWII aboard the USS Wasp, until he was honorably discharged in 1946. Wilfred was employed at W.R. Grace and Co. in Cambridge until his retirement in 1987. He volunteered for many years at the VA hospital in Bedford, MA. In addition to his wife, Wilfred is survived by two daughters; Doreen Hudgins and her husband Larry of Charleston, SC, and Diane O'Donnell and her husband Frederick of Groton, MA; two granddaughters Erin O'Donnell of Framingham and Lisa O'Donnell of Groton. Wilfred was predeceased by his son Steven in 1952.
