Theresa Marie (Naples) Volpe

Theresa Marie (Naples) Volpe was born on November 5, 1937 in Watertown, Massachusetts. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 6, 2024 at 86 years old. She was the youngest of seven children, with brothers Severino, Anthony, Nicholas, and Ralph, and sisters Mary and Rose. She is pre-deceased by a brother who died in infancy and all her siblings but is survived by her sister-in-law Muriel Naples (Nicholas). She grew up in Brookline, NH and Watertown, MA and graduated from Watertown High School in 1955. After high school, Theresa worked as a secretary at Hood Rubber Company. She married Albert Volpe on October 5, 1957 and they moved to Wilmington, MA. In 1962, they moved to Pepperell, MA and have remained in the same house on Hollis Street.

Theresa is survived by her husband of almost 67 years Albert Volpe, Sr. and her six children, Rose Hare (David), Anne Freeman (Thomas), Albert Jr., Katherine Aubuchon (James), Mary Wilborg (Benjamin Ferrante), and Elizabeth Haskins (Bruce).

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Trevor and Andrew Freeman, Alex, Joseph, Matthew, and Olivia Haskins, Ellen and Katherine Wilborg, Avery Ferrante, and Ethan and Jenna Aubuchon. She has one great-grandchild, Raelyn Haskins. She is also survived by cousins, her niece and godchild Rose Geehan, and many other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

After her youngest child started kindergarten, she returned to the workforce outside of the home, working briefly at the Pepperell Town Hall and then for 34 years at NEBS (later purchased by Deluxe) at both the Townsend and Groton facilities. She was known as Terry at the office and developed many long-term friendships with her coworkers.

Theresa was devoted to her family and was always generous for birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, weddings, graduations, and any other important occasions. Even though she was most comfortable at home, she traveled to Arizona several times for important events for her grandsons Trevor and Andrew as well as Georgia for her grandson Alex’s wedding.

Theresa was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pepperell, now known as Our Lady of Grace. She attended mass in person every week until COVID-19 in 2020. She continued to follow televised mass and observe her faith every day.

She always loved music and had a trained soprano voice and played both the piano and the guitar. In high school, she belonged to Glee Club, Special Chorus, and Theater Workshop.

She loved all types of puzzles, especially crossword puzzles, word games, and jigsaw puzzles. She also liked going to the casino and playing scratch tickets.

Theresa was an avid sports fan, especially of Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, and the Boston Red Sox. She never missed watching their games, and we recently learned from her Watertown High yearbook caption: “Theresa . . . expressive, warm brown eyes . . . a valued friend . . . gifted with a lilting voice . . . and despite these feminine attributes, she is a whole-hearted baseball player.”
