Theresa Duff, 57, of Maynard, MA, died following a battle with cancer on January 11, 2021. Beloved daughter of our Lord and wife of Timothy Duff. Born to Frederick J. and Helen F. Griffin in London, UK. Graduate of UMass Dartmouth and Boston College.
After a career in technical writing, Theresa pursued a career which better matched her love of children. She was then a fifth-grade teacher for many years in the Belmont school system. Theresa loved all things Irish, especially the Irish Ceili dance, where she met many life-long friends. Theresa and Tim met each other later in life. They shared a powerful love of their Catholic faith, which sustained them through good and bad times. Soon after marrying, they began to pursue their shared dream to become a family. They bought a home in Maynard, while Tim began to work as a chaplain at Emerson Hospital. In December of 2014, Jaelyn and Kylie came to their home and a cherished family was born. Theresa enjoyed the happiest years of her life with Tim, Jaelyn and Kylie, especially trips to see family on the Cape, walks on the beach, and living out their faith with a large circle of friends.
In addition to her husband, Theresa is survived by her sister, Christine Griffin and brothers Jack, Gregory, and Christopher Griffin and nieces Celeste, Justine, Kate, and nephew Matthew. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Regina Griffin. Also survived by her mother-in-law Mildred Duff, and brothers-in-law Scott, Richard, Thomas, John and sister-in-law, Kathy and her husband Ralph Denton, as well as many cherished friends.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 AM on February 5th, 2021 at Saint Benedict’s Abbey, 252 Still River Rd., Still River (Harvard), MA, with burial following at St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Maynard. The family would like to thank friends and neighbors for their support during Theresa’s illness. The family would also appreciate consideration of a donation to their GoFundMe page, “Tim and Theresa’s Girls”, to help defer funeral expenses and support the children's education: https://www.gofundme.com/f/Tim-and-Theresas-Girls?qid=d2ad4534935b5154c31499ef4e7ac9e4
