Russell Nichols Brown, 80, of Conway, SC and originally a Massachusetts native, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2023 surrounded by his loving wife Kathleen and family. Known by everyone as Russ, the most important thing to him throughout his life was being with family. As a student at Boston English High School, Russ played clarinet and saxophone and captained the marching band. He played basketball in the youth leagues around Boston. He was an avid sports fan who loved all the Boston teams, especially the Celtics. Russ and his family moved to the suburbs where he co-founded youth hockey organizations in Westborough and Littleton so that his three sons could play the game and was also very active in Youth Baseball in Littleton. Russ retired after a long career in the software industry and married his second wife Kathleen Coble from Groton, MA on February 14, 1998. Together they shared their love of horses at their residences in Pepperell, MA and Mason, NH. In 2012 Russ and Kathy relocated to Conway, South Carolina to live the good life near Myrtle Beach.
Russ is survived by his wife Kathleen, his sons Russell Jr, Alan, and David, stepsons Kevin and Kristopher, grandchildren Jacqueline, Jones, Alex, Bryanna, Harry, Katherine, Brady and Michael, and great grandchildren Isaac, Revel, Mariam & Roland.
Besides being a passionate sports fan, Russ was a music lover. Family gatherings were almost always drenched in the sounds of rock oldies from the 50’s and 60’s, classic rock and pop artists, country music, and definitely his favorite Neil Diamond.
