Robert Williams "Bob" Wyatt, 84, passed away at Ayer Valley Rehab and Nursing Center on May 5th, 2024 following a lengthy illness.
Bob was the husband of Nancy (Morse) Wyatt who still resides in their West Groton home they have shared for 61 years.
Bob was born on November 26, 1939 to Alfred Reginald Wyatt and Mary (Williams) Wyatt at the Williams Farmhouse on Chicopee Row in Groton.
Bob worked various jobs as a teen before his long career at the Leatherboard paper mill in West Groton. He claimed to have been one of the two men to walk out the doors for the last time before they closed for good. During his employment at the mill, he also worked for Blood Farm in West Groton. He operated the smoke house and transported animals until he retired in 2007. He prided himself by working 100 hours once in one week between both jobs.
His favorite past time was going to the horse or dog races with his buddies. He loved animals. The family home housed many animals over the years including goats, pigs, rabbits, turkeys, dogs, cats and horses.
In is retirement years he led a simple life at home enjoying the swimming pool, gardening and taking a cruise around town making one stop to the Shirley package store for his nip and scratch tickets.
Bob is survived by his three children: Cheryl Breton and husband Roger of Westford, Keith Wyatt and wife Shirley of Townsend, and Linda Hanna of Pepperell. He leaves five grandchildren: Dawn Wyatt and partner Joe Roland of Leominster, Jonathon Wyatt and wife Sharon of Georgia, Keith Kuzmitch and husband Marcelo of Florida, Brian Hanna and wife Lia of New Hampshire and Belinda Kuzmitch of Leominster. He also leaves four great grandchildren: Madison and Alivia Roland, Aurora Wyatt and Lincoln Hanna.
Bob was predeceased by his brothers Thomas and Alfred Wyatt, both of West Groton, sister Barbara Atherton of Harrisburg, Arkansas, niece Diane Atherton, nephew Ed Atherton, and sons-in-law Mike Kuzmitch and David Hanna.
Burial in Groton Cemetery will be private. A celebration of life will be held on July 20th at his residence.
