Emblem

Robert (Bumsty) Reagan was called to his eternal home with the Lord on Saturday, January, 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 27, 1946, the adopted son of the late John F. Reagan and Julia Eleanor (Drumm) of Pepperell, MA. Robert was raised in Pepperell and attended the schools there.

Upon completing his education, he made a decision that would change the course of his life: he entered the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. This decision had its risks, but he wanted to create a future for himself, and serving his country was the right choice for him at that time. He attended Great Lakes Naval Training Center in 1965. His first duty station was aboard the USS Norton Sound (AVM 1) out of Port Hueneme, CA. From there he went to survivable training at Coronado, CA, to prepare for Vietnam. He was then assigned to Tien Shaw Ramp Danang and Red Beach Causeway in the capacity of Support, driving a Rugged Train Fork Truck loading ships that would go further north loaded with ammunition, tanks, and many other types of armed vehicles. On occasion, he would have to accompany these loads.

He spent two years in the country, where he was moved to different locations due to his ability to lead and handle heavy equipment. Upon completion of his military obligation, he returned to Pepperell, where he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy A. Pillsbury. They have been married for 55 years, and together they had two children: a son, Brent D. Reagan of Pepperell, and a daughter, Renee M. (Reagan) MacMaster of West Boylston, MA.

He worked in the food warehousing industry throughout New England and eventually ended up as a Principal Subcontract Administrator at Textron Defense Systems (formerly Avco). He enjoyed many happy years with his family at his summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Pillsbury) Reagan; his son, Brent Reagan of Pepperell; his daughter Renee MacMaster and her husband David of West Boylston, MA; two precious grandchildren, Andrew R. MacMaster and Riely A. MacMaster of West Boylston; three sisters: Mary Bishop of Nashua, NH, Nancy Hatch and her husband Donald of South Carolina, and Jane Reagan of Maryland; many nieces and nephews; and a beloved cousin, Betty.

Robert is a Life Member of VFW Post 3291 in Pepperell, MA.
