Robert "Bob" J. Libby

Robert "Bob" J. Libby, 78, of Pepperell, Massachusetts, passed away on April 13, 2024, at the Rose Monahan Hospice, in Worcester, Massachusetts after a recent battle with cancer.

Bob was born in Marlborough, Massachusetts, son of the late John P. and Grace M. (Bremner) Libby. He was a graduate of Nashoba Regional High School in Bolton, MA. He spent most of his working career in the audio/sound industry, including H.H. Scott, Advent, KLH, Peerless Audio, and Bose. At Bose, he had a passion for process and product improvement and enjoyed the satisfaction of conducting hands on workshops. His work in the audio industry was more than a career, it was one of his obsessions. Bob was a music fanatic and loved music of all genres. He enjoyed playing his saxophone, collecting records, and had an extensive knowledge of music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. You could mention a song to him, and he could tell you the artist, writers and musicians, year of its release, record label, as well as other interesting facts and trivia related to the song. In his later years, he continued his passion for music as a music DJ, performing at weddings, anniversaries, and other celebrations. Bob also loved spending time with his family. During the summers, he enjoyed camping throughout New England, and relaxing in the sun at Hampton Beach and in South County Rhode Island.

He was predeceased by his daughter Kimberly Ann (Libby) Salem, his sister Merle (Libby) Deveau, niece Cheryl (Clingan) Coon and nephew Thomas Clingan. He is survived by his former spouse, Lois A. (Boeske) Libby of South Carolina; son Matthew Libby of Rhode Island;  grandchild Salem of Connecticut; niece Candice (Clingan) Bostwick of Virginia; great-nephews Robert and John Bostwick; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard Whelden of Arkansas, Victor Whelden of Florida, Sandra Whelden of South Carolina, Debra Goransson of South Carolina; and nephews Stephen and David Goransson.

A memorial visitation will be held in the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St., (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Wednesday, April 24th from 4 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
