Robert L. Dwyer Jr., a beloved father, brother, friend, and mentor to many, passed away on October 17th, 2024, in Merrimack, NH, at the age of 82. Born on December 2nd, 1941, in Winchester, MA, to the late Robert Sr. and Mary Dwyer of Woburn, he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and steadfast companionship that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Deborah (Dwyer) Leigh and her husband Ken of Nashua, NH, and Christine Dwyer and her husband Christian Caramanica of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by his sister Elaine (Dwyer) Lawson of Woburn, MA and his brother William Dwyer of North Port, Florida, and his lifelong friend and mother of his two beloved daughters, Carol Dwyer of Las Vegas, NV. Robert was predeceased by his wife, Anne Pessotti, in 2022. He cherished his relationships with his stepsons, Stephen and David Pessotti, and their wives Lori and Shaelagh, as well as his five adored grandchildren.
A devoted family man, Robert graduated from Keith Academy in Lowell in 1959, where he was a Defensive Back for their football team, mastered Latin, and made friendships that endure to this day. He continued his education at Northeastern University, furthering his lifelong love for learning and mentorship.
Robert had a passion for coaching and mentoring youth, having guided hundreds of young athletes from all ages, skills, and talents in PAT Hockey, North Middlesex Hockey, and Pepperell Little League. He raised his family in Pepperell, MA and enjoyed long walks down the rail trail, and hiking in New England, especially in the early fall, his favorite time of year. Robert found solace most of all in nature, vacationing often in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and the shores of Salisbury, Beach, NH. He was a fervent fan of the Boston Bruins and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Robert was an NHL hockey enthusiast and an avid golfer.
Perhaps one of his favorite roles in the latter part of his life, was working behind the bar at the Westford Regency in Westford, MA. Here, he connected with patrons both local and from all over the globe, bringing joy and laughter to all through both serious and lighthearted banter.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 24th, 2024, at McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main St., (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA from 4-7 pm. Friends and family are invited to share their memories and stories during this special service. Robert’s Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, October 25th at 10:30 am. Burial will be private.

Robert L. Dwyer Jr. will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his remarkable life.
