Richard M. Shidlow of Pepperell passed peacefully in his home on July 7, 2023. Born on June 16, 1941 to the late Isadore and Loretta Shidlow, Richard is predeceased by his siblings Ruth Lockhart, Leatrice Jeffries, Howard Shidlow, Barbara Reinstein, Felice Lewis, and Bernard Shidlow. He is also predeceased by his niece Leah Tully, whom he lived with for many years.
Richard was an avid lover of all Boston sports and made sure to cheer on “his boys” every chance he got. A retiree from the State of Massachusetts, Richard found coworkers that became his lifelong friends as they welcomed him into their families. Anyone who had the pleasure of getting to know Richard could agree that he had a loveable personality and that he would have done anything to help those he loved.
Richard is survived by his great nephew Christopher Tully and his wife Lucia of Pepperell, who will miss his kind heart, stories, and laughter in their home. Additionally, Richard is survived by a sister, Debra Souder of Ohio, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut Street, Newton, MA on Tuesday, July 18th at 1 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s honor may be made to ASPCA Tributes, 520 8th Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10018 ( www.aspca.org ) .
