It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Charles Johnson, of Groton, at the age of 63. Rick passed away in the early morning of December 17th, 2024, after battling Stage 4 Lung Cancer for almost eight months. Richard, or Rick, was born in Lowell, MA on August 23rd, 1961.
Rick is predeceased by his father, Ralph W. Johson; his mother, Eva (Sousa) Johnson, his twin brother, Robert (Bobby) Johnson; and his nephew, Walter (Wally) Johnson.
Rick is survived by his wife, Veneranda Batista; his three children, Derek Johnson, Courtney and her husband Roger Rodrigues, and Brittany Johnson, and their mother Ann; his stepchildren, Jonathan and his wife Jess Costa, and Samantha Costa; his grandson, Caleb Costa; his brother, Walter, and his wife Maria Johnson; his nephew, Mark and his wife Ana Johnson; and his niece, Cheryl (Cherry) Porro.
Rick was very passionate about his career. He was a general contractor and owned his own construction business, STL (Sky’s The Limit), where he often worked alongside his son, Derek.
Rick enjoyed working on projects in his barn, driving his bright orange Corvette, doing yard work on his favorite tractor, traveling to Las Vegas to play poker, and spending time at Lake Winnipesaukee, NH, where he loved boating and snowmobiling.
While our hearts mourn his loss, we take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering.
