Richard Duncan 89, a longtime Pepperell resident, widower of Dorothy Meredith Duncan, passed away early Sunday morning, January 26, 2020 at the Courville in Nashua after a period of declining health.
Mr. Duncan was born in Nashua on Feb. 6, 1930, a son of Bertram and Bertha Duncan. During his youth, Richard resided in Hollis, working on several of the local farms. He moved to Pepperell in 1953 and made his home there for 65 years. He married “Dolly” Duncan on August 19, 1951 and they shared 67 years together until her passing on November 11, 2018.
After his retirement in 1995 as a lab technician at Anheuser Bush in Merrimack, Richard enjoyed vegetable gardening and nightly drives with his wife Dolly. Richard and Dolly loved vacationing in Stowe, VT, traveling throughout New England and hosting many family Saturday night suppers.
Richard is predeceased by his wife, his three siblings, Bob, Brad and Mary and his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Mary.
He is survived by three children; son Chris and his wife Cindy (Taylor) of Milford, daughter Lee and her husband, Dan Wadleigh of Hollis and son Richard of New Briton, CT as well as 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Memorial Visitation will be held in the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113) on Saturday, February 1 from 2 - 4 PM, with a Memorial Service to follow at 4 PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Community Hospice House, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054.
