Raymond “Ray” Bakunas, 53, passed away suddenly on July 12th, 2024 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, NH with his family by his side. Ray was born on June 15, 1971 to Alfred and Gloria Bakunas of Nashua, NH. Ray graduated from Nashua High School, Class of 1990.
Ray was known for his love of towing. He worked as a tow truck driver for many years throughout his life. He spent over 15 years towing for Kinney Towing and Transportation out of Amherst, NH. Ray then went on to spend many years towing with Eastbound Transport out of Pepperell, MA. He had a strong passion for his work, and his vast towing knowledge was admirable.
When not towing, Ray could be found fishing, grilling, working on his beloved Tahoe, or at the Pepperell VFW playing horseshoes and cornhole. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and was constantly reaching out to check in.
Ray is predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Gloria Bakunas, and his sister Christine Mackensen. Ray will be sadly missed by his son Gary Fortunato and Fiancée Sabrina Wojnar of Pepperell, MA, his daughter Rosalee Fortunato of Pepperell, MA, as well as his two nieces Adeline and Chloe Mackensen of Temple, NH. Ray also leaves behind his beloved grandson Colton Fortunato of Pepperell, MA.
Graveside services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, 40 Heald St., Pepperell, MA on Monday, July 22nd at 11 am. Ray’s Celebration of Life will follow at the Pepperell VFW Post #3291, 55 Leighton St., Pepperell, MA.
