Paul Edward McLaughlin, age 76, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Villa Crest Nursing Home and Retirement Center in Manchester, N.H. on May 17, 2021.
He was a graduate of Burlington High School. He went on to attend the Massachusetts Fire Academy in 1975. Mr. McLaughlin married Margaret McLaughlin in 1968, and they moved to Pepperell, MA in 1973. He worked for 27 years with the Burlington Fire Department as a Firefighter before retiring in 2002. Through his career he helped countless people and dedicated himself to serving his community. He deeply cared for others and acted with selflessness, compassion and bravery.
Mr. McLaughlin enjoyed photography, hiking, and long walks with his dog and faithful companion Dusty. He also enjoyed spending summers in York, Maine and watching his grandsons play hockey and baseball. He had an avid interest in history, which he shared with his son and grandsons. He was loved by his family and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife Margaret McLaughlin, of Hudson, N.H., his son Michael McLaughlin and daughter-in-law Carrie McLaughlin of Brookline, NH, and their three children Michael, Megan and Matthew. He is also survived by granddaughter Michaela McLaughlin of Weymouth, MA, and several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and daughter, Kerry McLaughlin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Grace Parish worshipping at Saint Joseph’s Church, 28 Tarbell St., Pepperell, MA on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pepperell. A Celebration of Life for family and friends to honor Paul’s memory will take place at a later date.
