Madalyn “Maddy” Chase died peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023. Born September 23, 1934, she was a lifelong New Englander living most of her life in Massachusetts and her last 20 years in New Hampshire.
Maddy attended and graduated from Spaulding Memorial School, in Townsend, MA. She spent her entire working life at New England Business Service, NEBS, (currently Deluxe). NEBS was Maddy’s community and home where friends became family members. She enjoyed building friendships with her co-workers and making her work family laugh any chance she could. She retired from NEBS in 2010 after 43 years of service. She spent the rest of her retirement years with her Golden Girl sisters, Joan Ware and Dorothy Morris. There she enjoyed a home filled with love, kindness, companionship, peace, and safety. She got to be a part of Joan and Dottie’s family, spending holidays, special family gatherings, and being an integral part of the lives of Joan’s children, grandchildren and extended family members.
Maddy loved crocheting and spent many hours making blankets for her friends and family for any occasion. Crocheting was a labor of love for Maddy and if you were blessed enough to receive one of her crocheted blankets, you knew you were loved. It was like getting a warm hug to be cherished for a lifetime.
Maddy loved spending time on puzzles, visiting Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods whenever she could, but most of all she loved her Boston sports teams. When she was able to, she would love to go to a Celtics or Bruins game. And if the Pats, Sox, Celtics or Bruins won a championship, you can be sure she was getting sweatshirts, hats, and gear for her and the family to celebrate the win.
Maddy will be remembered for her quick wit and humor, her laughter, but most of all her compassionate and loyal heart for anyone in need of a smile.
There will be a private service with her family as Maddy never liked being the center of attention or the cause of anyone to fuss over her.
If you want to celebrate Maddy’s life and memory, consider donating to organizations like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or any animal rescue shelter. Children and pets always put a smile on Maddy’s face and brought her so much joy.
God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped His arms around you,
And whispered, “Come to me”.
You didn’t deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest,
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best
And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain
I could not wish you back
To suffer that again.
