Lyle L.E. Sherwood died Sunday at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Presque Isle, Maine, son of Clinton E. Swalley and the late Dorothy Flynt. Being the child of a serviceman he lived in many places across the United States.
He also chose to serve in the Military and was a Green Beret in The United States Army 10th Special Forces Group Airborne, later serving for several years in the Air Force National Guard at Pease Air Force Base, serving during operations Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom.
Lyle spent the last 18 years of his life in Pepperell as a devoted family man. He took pride in his work developing technology, and traveling the world was food for his soul. He was never too busy to help with homework, go to a soccer game or for a movie. Lyle was an avid runner, loved camping or going to the park with his family. He was very passionate about his physical fitness, running the Boston Marathon twice and countless half marathons. He loved to cook and had a hearty appetite for global cuisine. Lyle left a legacy of love, family and community. He is survived by his loving wife Nicole (Palmeiro) Sherwood his loving children Madilyn M., Bradley G., Chloe E. and Samuel E. Sherwood all of Pepperell. He also leaves behind 1 sister Sherylyn Asch of Virginia and two brothers, Charles H. of Sacramento, CA, and Robert Sherwood of VA.
