Linda Oakley, 65, of Townsend, MA passed away unexpectedly on Saturday January 6, 2024 due to complications from cancer. She was born on June 20th, 1958 daughter of the late Albert and Edna May (Edmuston) MacDougall.
She is survived by her husband, Richard (Dick) Oakley; her children, Meghan Oakley and partner John Cronin of Chelmsford, MA, R.J. Oakley and his wife Jessica, and Linda’s first grandchild Mylah of Lunenburg, MA; her sisters, Sherry MacDougall of San Francisco, CA, Jean Jones of Georgetown, MA, Beth MacDougall of Winchester, MA, and Donna MacDougall-Hagborg, of Felton, CA; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her precious Dachshund, Ruby.
Linda worked at MIT Lincoln Labs, retiring after 20 years. She then opened an at-home daycare, where she cared for many children in the Townsend community, that are still in the family’s lives to this day. Later in her life she drove for Dee Bus, a job she truly enjoyed and where she made many of the friends she held close to her heart. Linda loved to do needlepoint and enjoyed attending blues concerts. Linda was a member of the New Beginnings United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a warm, loving, motherly person to all who knew and loved her. She will be truly missed.
A celebration of life will be held in the early summer to commemorate Linda’s passing. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
