Lee Ann Munroe

Lee Ann Munroe of Pepperell, MA passed away at home after a long battle with emphysema on January 10, 2025. She was born on February 16, 1956 in Concord, MA, the daughter of Donald & Terry Kilfoyle. She was raised in central Massachusetts with her younger brothers Dana and Kyle.

She graduated High School from the Bromfield School, Harvard, MA in 1974. She worked in the nursing field throughout her life at various nursing homes, private homes and hospitals, including many years at the Emerson Hospital where she was born.

Lee loved music, crafting, reading, collecting antiques and rarities, beach vacations, day trips and backyard cookouts with family and friends; but above all her happy place was in the garden with both hands in the dirt, where she was “nearer God’s heart”. She was a kind soul who loved and cared deeply for people, animals and plants; and they loved her back.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, John Munroe, who she shared her last 25 years with; her dearly loved children Amy King, Rachel Amour and her husband Jody, Kelly Fichtner, Erik Fichtner and his wife Lisa, Benjamin Munroe and his wife Jennifer, Geoffrey Munroe and his wife Azrael; her precious grandchildren Jared, Chloe, Callie, Caleb, Carly, Chelsea, Conner, Jacob, Cameron, Zoe, Lenna and Hannah; her cherished brothers Dana Kilfoyle and Kyle Kilfoyle; her former husband Erik Fichtner; her two cats Ollie and Pip; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is pre-deceased by her mother and father. She will be dearly missed by family and friends, who were there for her until the very end.

Viewing will be held beginning at 9 AM, on Friday, January 17, 2025, followed by a service at noon at the McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main Street, Pepperell, MA. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pepperell.

“The kiss of the sun for pardon, The song of the birds for mirth, -

One is nearer God’s heart in the garden, Than anywhere else on earth.”
