Joan Rose (Grissell) Hutchinson

Joan R. (Grissell) Hutchinson 77, of Groton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2016 at the UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester after a sudden illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph D. Hutchinson.  She is survived by her loving children Daniel J. Hutchinson, David J. Hutchinson and Annette M. Dolbow.  She is survived as well by her grandchildren Cal Hutchinson, Camden Hutchinson, Joseph Hutchinson, Leeanne Lafin, Alison Howard, Leslie Harvey, Danielle Dolbow, and her beloved sister, Linda G. Goldman.  Joan was born in Philadelphia, PA and graduated St. Hubert’s High School.  She retired from a management position at Prudential Insurance Co., and moved to Groton, MA in 1991.  Joan was active in community groups in Groton and served at one time as the Groton Republican Committee woman, President of the Women’s Club, and in various Town appointed roles.  She was later employed by APC/Schneider Electric and retired recently from her position as an HR Business Partner.  Joan had a full and active life traveling to Australia, England, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Alaska and the rest of the continental United States for business and pleasure.  Although her family was her primary focus in life, she also enjoyed collecting antiques, playing and listening to classical music and sketching and painting.  A  Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM Friday July 15, 2016 at Our Lady of Grace Parish worshipping at St. Joseph’s Church 28 Tarbell St. Pepperell, relatives and friends kindly invited.
