Janet J. Goudey, RN

Janet J. Goudey, age 90, died peacefully on November 15th, 2024, at her home in Groton, MA with loving family by her side. Janet was born on March 9, 1934, in Cambridge, MA to Katherine and Clifford Sprott. She graduated from Stoneham High School in 1951 where she made many lifelong friends, was captain of the cheerleading squad, and where she met her husband Bob. In 1954, Janet graduated from the Massachusetts Memorial Hospital's School of Nursing in Boston. In December of the same year, she and Bob married and spent the next 64 years together. Most of those years were spent in Stow MA where they raised their three sons and were both very active in their church, the former Union Church of Stow. Janet and her family loved spending summers camping at Lake Winnipesaukee. 

Janet had a long career as a registered/occupational health nurse. She practiced her profession at Emerson Hospital, Concord, the former Metropolitan State Hospital in Waltham, and at the former offices of Sentry Insurance and Nuclear Metals Inc. in Concord. Her last position was with Dr. Paul D'Ambrosio at Concord Internal Medicine.

Janet was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Goudey Jr., her sister Barbara Atkins Osterstock, and her brother Charles Sprott. Janet is survived by her three loving sons, Bob and his wife Bebe, of Groton, MA, Glenn and his wife Heidi, of Middlebury, IN, and Brian and his wife Candy, of Burnt Hills, NY. Janet was so proud of her 9 grandchildren, Katie Morrison, Devin Goudey, Shelby Norlander, Kelby Goudey, Mike Chrzanowski, Amy Grew, Abby DiNardo, Claire Germaine and Otto Jung. She will also be missed by her eight great grandchildren, Maya and Ben Chrzanowski, Charlie and Teddy Grew, Blakely, Luca and Parker Morrison, and Fritz Germaine.

The family is very thankful for the wonderful care that Janet received from the staff of Senior Helpers of Westford - Heather, Cindy, Sharon and Marie, and for the medical care she received from hospice nurses Samantha and Veronica of Care Central VNA & Hospice.

A celebration of Janet's life will be held on May 17, 2025 at the Union Congregational Church, 218 Main Street, Groton, MA at 11 am.
