James C. "Skeeter" Wyman Jr.

James C. (Skeeter) Wyman Jr. Groton, MA died peacefully on December 8, 2021 following declining health at his winter home in Zephyrhills, FL. He was born in Hartford, CT on April 29, 1943 the son of the late James C. Wyman Sr. and Grace A. Hart Wyman.

Skeeter was the husband of the late Sheila (Auntie) Townsend Lawrence-Wyman of 27 years, who died on January 29, 2021. He is survived by his 3 children, Kara-Lee Gillie of Frederica, DE, Lawrence (Shane) Wyman (wife Tiffany) of Felton DE & David Wyman (partner Kimberly) of Lincoln DE. He leaves his 3 sisters, Ann Doe of Ayer, Pam Wyman of Ayer and Gail Januskiewicz (Mark) of Ayer.  He also leaves Sheila's daughters, Rhonda (James) Piper of Ashby, Bonnie (Richard) Magdelain of Tigard, Oregon and Wendy Lawrence (Phil Mitchell) of Shirley. His grandchildren James Cetnar, Gregory Gillie and Sarah Gillie, Ashley Wyman,  Allison Wyman,  Lawrence Wyman, Jr,  Ashley Macleish, Chad Wyman and Midori Wyman, Marc Wyman and Christopher Wyman,  Zakkary Piper, twins-Haleigh & Braden Magdelain. He also leaves someone very special, his nephew Jim Reid, his wife Jamie and their daughter Sky.   He leaves a Great Granddaughter Chloe LaBerge and a Great Grandson Brantley Wyman.

After graduating from Ayer High School in 1961, Skeeter attended college in Palm Beach, Florida before joining the Marines in 1964. He then went to work for the telephone company and retired from AT&T in 1989 after 25 years.

He was a past President of the Groton Snowmobile Club and the Groton Square Dancing Club during the late 70's and 80's.

Skeet lived in Delaware from 1989 to 1990 where he owned and operated the "Heart Break Hotel" with his previous wife Margaret Reid Wyman.

Skeeter had known Sheila for many years.  When he returned to MA they reunited and married in 1994. One of their businesses was known as "The Linen Lady of Groton, MA" that sold linens throughout shows in NE and down the East Coast to their Zephyrhills winter home.  Skeet was a jack of all trades and always had to have a "project" in the works.

Together, they loved spending time with their combined families and the grandchildren. If they didn't see Skeeter's children from Delaware in the summer, they always made time to see them on their way to FL for an early Christmas and also stopping on their way home in the spring. They also enjoyed traveling to Oregon to spend time with Sheila's side of the family and see the kids Haleigh & Braden in Oregon.  They enjoyed watching Zakk's orchestra performances in MA.  Family was everything to Skeet and Sheila.  Their visits were the highlight of their travel.  They spent many years traveling to Aruba and took ocean cruises.  Two very special cruises with his sisters' will always be remembered.

A few years back Skeeter and Sheila wanted to do something really special for their immediate family. They planned a fun filled week of games, and food and water sports in 2-3 cottages on Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire. Sheila bought and prepared as much food as possible before the family arrived and then Skeeter took over with the cooking. Wonderful memories for all.  When the word party was mentioned, Skeeter always had a hand in the planning and organizing.  Entertaining was what he enjoyed most in life and everyone was welcome without judgement!

Jim....Skeeter....Grampy....Boppy.... was so proud of all his children and his grandchildren.

Skeeter leaves behind several friends in Groton, MA and Ayer, MA where he grew up and many beloved friends in Zephyrhills, FL where he was planning to make his home after Sheila passed in January.

In addition to his parents and Sheila, Skeeter was predeceased by his two sons, Chad Wyman in June 1991 and Marc Wyman in April 2015 and his brother-in-law Jay Doe October 2021.

Memorial service will be held Friday, February 4, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Bull Run Restaurant, 215 Great Road
Shirley, MA. A private burial will be held in the spring.
