George Henry Davis of Lunenburg died in his home on March 13, 2024.

Son of George Thompson Davis and Emma Piantanida-Davis, George was born on October 12, 1946 in Manchester, Connecticut. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, George had an extensive career managing several restaurants and pharmacies before becoming the owner of the Lil’ Peach (later Tedeschi’s) where he became a cornerstone of the Littleton business community.

The “Arnold Palmer” of the convenience store circuit, and known for his innovations with cream, sugar and coffee, George Davis will be remembered for his luscious, golden coif. With his child-like zest for life, George made every day a little bit brighter for those lucky enough to cross his path. His ability to see the positive in any situation, the beauty in the mundane, the silver lining to every cloud, he saw and brought out the best in those around him. Zippo enthusiast, renowned numismatist, philanthropist, model hobbiest, puzzle master, world class golfer, first rate napper, a member of the Tahattawan masons; George was a man of many talents and hobbies. A philanthropic man, the son of a gun started the most active of his charities “The Marlboro Man of Lunenburg’s Home for Wayward Whittens (and Egelands)” in 2000. He ran this charity for the next 24 years with his wife, Holly Davis.

Whether you knew him at the Peach over a cup of joe; or at the golf course where his handicap made Tiger Woods jealous; or were lucky enough to be his family, George’s kind spirit will endure through the memories cherished by those fortunate enough to have known him. Our hearts ache from the loss of his vibrant presence in our lives.

George is survived by wife, Holly Davis, his sister Donna LaCells, his children and stepchildren; Nicholas Ludden, Anastasia Hoffmann, Elizabeth Davis, and David Maliszewski, his grandchildren Jack Davis and Cooper Hoffmann, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of George’s Life will be held at the Bull Run Restaurant, 215 Great Road, Shirley, MA from 3 to 6 pm on Friday, March 22, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1120, Framingham, MA 01701 (www.cancer.org)
