Francis F. Fernandes III

Francis F. Fernandes III, 59, of Gardner, formerly of Pepperell, passed away on October 28, 2018 peacefully at home surrounded by his family.  He passed away after a long battle with cancer. Francis was born on March 23, 1959 at Emerson Hospital in Concord Massachusetts to Joyce and Francis F. Fernandes Jr.

Francis grew up all over Massachusetts including Acton, Littleton, Westford, Pepperell, and Gardner. He graduated from Nashoba Technical High School in 1978. Throughout his life he had many jobs - one of which was being a carpenter that built all over Massachusetts. The career he loved the most was when he worked as the lead custodian at Spaulding Memorial School in Townsend, Massachusetts. He worked there for over 24 years, making friends with many of the staff and teachers. Francis was a hard worker and took pride in everything he did.

Some of his favorite things were spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved helping people in any way he could. Francis also enjoyed staying busy by fixing and building things for the people he loved.

Francis is survived by his brothers Ricardo A. Fernandes and Dawn Budd of Augusta, GA; and Arthur A. Fernandes and Henry Seider of Winthrop, MA; his long term companion Mary Dwyer of Pepperell, MA; Eldest Son Francis F. Fernandes IV of San Francisco, CA; Daughter Ceretha M. Fernandes of Westford, MA; Son Michael S. Fernandes and wife Lynn Fernandes of Gardner, MA; and two grandchildren Ava Katherine Fernandes and Logan Frank Fernandes. Francis is also survived by many other family and friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, November 1st from 4-8 PM at McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St. Pepperell, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A graveside service will be held at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, 34 Bedford St. Concord, MA on Sunday, November 4th at 2 PM.
