Evelyn Eva Walunas passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 17, 2016 in West Groton MA. She was born February 15, 1923 in Bedford, Massachusetts to the late Simon Kozlowski and Veronika (Latoza) Kozlowski.
She was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother of 3 and grandmother of 4.
She was born on a farm in Bedford and spent her early years tending the cows while listening to a radio during the depression on the farm in Bedford. There were trips to Concord with her father by wagon to sell the farm's produce. As a child, she picked beans at 5 cents a bushel to earn extra money. She was the daughter of first generation immigrants from Lithuania, and a parishioner of the Catholic church of South Boston and Acton MA.
Upon his return from World War II, she married Brone Michael Walunas, also a child of first-generation Lithuanian immigrants, and devoted her life to their family.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Evelyn was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, being particularly famous for her Lithuanian dishes.
In addition, she was a talented painter and seamstress. Often making clothes for her family and decorating her walls with her paintings.
Her later years were dedicated to her grandchildren. She worked as a teacher's aide in the Acton School District while her children were in school.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Brone Michael Walunas, and brothers and sisters.
Evelyn is survived by 2 sons, Ron and wife Joan of Raleigh, NC and Paul and wife Rebecca of Fallon, NV, and a daughter, Laura McNulty and husband Mark of Ayer, MA. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Jared and Lauren Walunas and Erin and Allie McNulty. Evelyn is survived by sister-in-law Teresa Kozlowski of Bedford MA, and nieces and nephews.
