Gale of West Groton, Ella Smalley (Blood) Gale Saturday January 17, 2015 died at her daughter's home. She was born in West Groton on April 17, 1918, daughter of the late Elliott L. and Ruth (Smalley) Blood, and was the wife of the late William T. Gale, who died in 2010.
A lifelong resident of West Groton, where she grew up on the family farm, Mrs. Gale attended the schools in Groton and was a graduate of Groton High School.
Mrs. Gale was a long time member of the Christian Union Church and was a member of the Ladies Aid Society. Being brought up on the farm, she enjoyed many outside activities, most of all was fishing at Back lake in Pittsburg, New Hampshire, for trout with her late husband and Aunt Marion and Uncle Bob.
She is survived by her daughter Ellen A. Risdon and her husband Jack, her brother Elliott L. "Barney" Blood, her 3 granddaughters Kelly Corricelli, Gale Smith Risdon all of West Groton, and Holly Virginia Bailey of Rockwood, Maine, her 3 great grandchildren Alyssa Stephenson, Courtney Stephenson, David Bailey, and nephew William W. Gale and his wife Barbara of Ashburnham, and her 2 nephews Jeffrey and Richard Blood.
The Family would also like to the thank the staff of the Apple Valley Center in Ayer, Nashoba Nursing and Hospice, and Doctors Craig Gustafson and Adam Cerel.
