STONEHAM -- Elizabeth A. "Betty" Walsh, 80, passed away peacefully Friday, June 14, 2013, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Born in Woburn, December 21, 1932 to the late Edmund J. Walsh and Alice C. (Crosby) Walsh and was raised in Stoneham where she attended the schools and was a graduate of Stoneham High School class of 1950 and was a graduate of Bryant & Stratton Business School.
She was a Public Affairs Assistant with the Canadian Consulate in Boston, for 27 years. She enjoyed traveling the world as well as volunteer work with the homeless and bereaved. Her greatest passion was the Catholic Church. She spent much of her time with local prayer groups.
Betty is survived by her sister Alice J. (Walsh) Twohig and her husband William L. Twohig of Stoneham, her nephew William L. Twohig, Jr. and his wife Fanny of Portland, ME, her niece Patricia A. (Twohig) McGaffigan and husband John "Jack" of Groton, nephew Michael J. Twohig and his wife Laurie of Stoneham, and niece Maureen F.(Twohig) Swanton and husband Bernard of Reading, her 8 great-nieces and nephews, and one great grand nephew.
The Twohig family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the entire staff of Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, especially the hospice staff for their loving care given to Betty. Visiting hours are omitted. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield, MA with burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Stoneham.
