Douglas Fahrenbach passed away peacefully on February 10, 2021 at the age of 96 at Home Health Community Hospice from age related issues. Douglas was born October 11, 1924 in Portsmouth, NH  the only son of Harris Fahrenbach and Diana (Lauzon) Fahrenbach. Douglas married Evelyn Theresa Parent in 1946 in Lowell, MA. Evelyn was the daughter of Wilfred and Viola Parent.


Douglas joined the Navy and fought in World War II including the Guadalcanal campaign. Douglas served in the North Korea and Vietnam Wars on ships and submarines. Douglas and Evelyn adopted their daughter Linda and son Michael in 1962 when he was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. Upon retirement from the Navy, Douglas moved to Dracut, MA and worked at the Post Office. He loved camping and summers were spent with his family in the New England mountains. He was an avid gardener.


His beloved wife Evelyn passed away from cancer in 1978. His beloved son, Michael, died in a car accident in 1981. Douglas then met Gloria DeRoche of Haverhill, MA on a blind date. She became his companion for 29 years. Douglas and Gloria were accomplished ballroom dancers. When Douglas retired from the Post Office he and Gloria travelled in the winter in his motor home to the southern states, spent spring and fall ballroom dancing, and in the summer lived in Wells Beach, Maine. Gloria DeRoche passed away peacefully in 2010. When Douglas was 88 he went to live with his surviving daughter Linda and her husband John O'Neil in Pepperell, MA where he made new friends, enjoyed his daughter's gardens and cared for her two dogs.
