Dorothy Marie Roberts

Dorothy “Dot” & “Gram” Roberts passed away peacefully at her home on December 23rd, 2021. Dorothy was born on March 23rd, 1936 in Burlington, VT. She was raised in Bellows Falls, VT by her adoptive parents Gordon and Cora Robinson, where she graduated from Bellows Falls High School. She earned an associate degree in nursing at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and later in life shifted her focus from caring for people, to caring for animals. She owned and operated an aviary bird care and supply business from her home in Buxton, ME for many years alongside her husband Oliver Roberts.

Dorothy’s interests in life were diverse and supported by her determinative spirit. She was passionate about Native American culture, so she learned how to dog sled, how to make leather goods, and of course the turquoise jewelry. Flying was an interest of hers, so she learned how to fly, and also how to successfully crash. And as previously mentioned she was a big animal lover. A visit to her house in Maine was akin to a visit to a zoo. And conversations with her were always conducted over the chorus of Chihuahua barking and claw tapping. She was a strong woman right to the end, a quality her whole surviving family hopes to have a little piece of.

Dorothy was pre-deceased by her husband Oliver Roberts who passed in 2001, her son-in-law Wayne Page who passed in 2021, and her Chihuahua family. She is survived by her daughter Rosemarie Page, her 5 grandchildren Kathleen Hamel, Steven Page, Sara Page, Christopher Page and Matthew Page, and 9 great-grandchildren, Mason, Owen, Hailey, Peyton, Brooklyn, Raeleigh, Colin, Madeline and Lucas.
