Donald J. Gelineau, 102, passed away on Thursday, October 27th, 2022. Donald was born in Lowell on August 18th, 1920 to Emile Gelineau and Valerie (Jette) Gelineau. Don, or Pépère as he was known to most, was born and raised in Lowell. Don was married to Lucille, the love of his life, for 54 years.
Donald volunteered to serve in the US Army after Pearl Harbor was attacked, serving in the Pacific Theater during the war. Donald spent most of his career employed as a mechanic for the city of Lowell. During his working years and for many years after retirement, he was always more than happy to repair the cars of friends and family, never accepting payment. Don loved spending time with and teaching young people, especially his grandchildren, various hands-on skills that so many of his generation possessed. Don and Lucille spent many summers at Sebago Lake in Maine and later they wintered in New Port Richie, Florida.
He was predeceased by his adoring wife Lucille (Mailhot) Gelineau, his son David and his siblings Robert Gelineau, Ernest Gelineau and Beulah (Gelineau) Cote. He is survived by his daughter Lori (Gelineau) Gallo and her husband Michael of Hampstead, NH; his daughter-in-law Cynthia (Bellerose) Gelineau of Tyngsboro; his grandchildren David Gelineau and his wife Kady of Dunstable, Rory Gelineau and his wife Nicole of Pepperell, Renee Habashy and her husband Samuel of Somersworth, NH, Richard Bouchard of Boston, Jesse Bouchard of Pennsylvania and many great-grandchildren.
