Diane Carol Johnson of York, Maine passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2022, from pulmonary complications. Diane was born on November 10, 1950, in Winchester, Massachusetts.
Diane was the daughter of the late Warren L. Johnson and Frances H. (Rae) Johnson. She is survived by her loving son Chad Fox, his wife Kristine, and two cherished granddaughters Harper and Claire of Pepperell, MA. Diane was adored by eight brothers and sisters: Robert, Ronald, Gail, Gary, Linda, Karen, Kevin. She was blessed with several brothers and sister in-laws, many nieces and nephews and dear friends from around the world. Diane was predeceased by her son Ronnie Fox, Jr., and her brother Larry.
She was raised in Billerica, Massachusetts and attended Billerica High School. In her youth, she enjoyed spending time with family and began to develop her incredible zest for life and adventure.
Diane loved her family with all her heart. She was the keeper of traditions and most generous towards her loved ones. Her home was the backdrop for endless family gatherings and many parties with friends. Diane raised her son in the Groton area and was known as a “second Mom” to many.
Diane possessed an admirable work ethic that began back in her days at Howard Johnsons where she worked her way up in rank. She later became an accountant manager at San Vel Concrete Corp. in Littleton, MA. This is where her career began to flourish. She soon became an award-winning advocate and helped launch a successful business in recycling that caught the attention of many. She was a recipient of various environmental awards and set the pace for the future of recycling as we know it today.
Diane spent many years enjoying York Beach Maine where she resided at the time of her death. She had a great love of the ocean and made some of her dearest friends. She was an active member of the York Rotary club where she was recently acknowledged for her many years of charitable efforts. She enjoyed participating in several community events and sitting peacefully on the beach.
The Bahamas was her home. She spent endless hours exploring the beaches, enjoying her favorite past time of collecting sea glass and dancing the night away with friends. The island is where she made her most treasured memories.
She was most spirited about dedicating her time and supporting the community. Diane was a tireless volunteer, a philanthropist for many causes. She was most compassionate about children’s initiatives, disaster relief work and elderly services. She was a community advocate as well as a recipient of many honorary accolades worldwide.
Diane was supportive and dependable friend. She was often described as having the ability to make lifelong friendships anywhere and never met a stranger who was not touched by her kindness.
Diane had the ability to light up a room and will be sorely missed by many.
Visiting hours will be held in the McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Monday, July 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. Face coverings are appreciated. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Trinity Parish Worshipping at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 107 N. Main Street, Westford, MA on Tuesday, July 19 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation. Diane volunteered countless years of service to this community that she called home.
