Ciara Casey, 49, died peacefully at home on November 26th, having battled cancer for the past year and a half. She was a devoted wife of Donal for 23 years, and loving mother of Treasa, Grainne, and Roisin. She is also survived by her sister Brid, nephews Adam and Laith, and niece Anna.
Ciara was born in Kilkenny, Ireland to the late Joan (Quirke) and John Egan, and attended Presentation Convent School in Kilkenny, and then the Leinster College, Dublin. She worked in business administration in Dublin for many years, before moving to the US in 1997.
Ciara’s priority in life has always been her family. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word, filling the home with smells of freshly cooked meals the family ate together every night, planning and hosting extravagantly themed birthday parties and showing up to support her daughters at orchestra concerts, music recitals, hockey rinks, lacrosse tournaments, robotics competitions, and swim meets.
A survivor of Crohn’s disease, Ciara did not let her cancer get the best of her, and battled to the very end, with quiet dignity and courage, never losing her sense of humor, resilience and character to the end.
There will be a wake held at the McGaffigan Funeral Home 37 Main St. Pepperell, MA on Wednesday November 30th from 5-8pm. She will be laid to rest in South Yarmouth on Cape Cod, where she with her three daughters and husband enjoyed many happy and memorable summers together. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Church 5 Barbara St. in Yarmouth, MA on Thursday December 1st at 10am. Burial will follow at Chandler Gray Cemetery.
