Charles Conrad Mueller, age 88, of Pepperell, died peacefully at home on December 4, 2018 after a long illness. Charlie was born on June 14th, 1930 in West Orange, NJ to the late Charles and Caroline (Koch) Mueller. There he attended West Orange High School, where he met his wife Patricia Ann (Coen).
One month after they were married, at the age of 20 years, Charlie was drafted to fight in the Korean War. There he spent 18 months on the frontline with the United States Army 3rd Infantry, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. When he returned to New Jersey, he joined the West Orange Police Department. There he held positions as Patrolman, Past President of the PBA, Detective, and Sergeant. He was an expert in fingerprinting and photography development. Charlie was an astounding leader with a high regard for truth. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father.
He is predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Patricia, who he loved as his closest soulmate, and his oldest son, Brother Joseph, MICM (Charles), and sister Caroline Lauterbach. He is survived by his sister Shirley Kelshaw (Kenneth), his children; Dianne Maney (Dennis), Sister Katherine Maria and Sister Agnes Mary, MICM, Paul (Amy), Carol Fretwell (Christopher), and Jean Crory (James). He also leaves behind 29 grandchildren; Joseph Maney (Sarah), Peter Maney (Chrissy), Sister Mary Bernard Maney, MICM, Katherine Pulvermacher (Brad), Thomas Maney (Mary), Christopher Maney, Danny Maney (Katie), and Michael Maney, Patrick Crory (Sabrina), Anna Albert (Stephen), Maureen Burke (Daniel), Jacob Crory (Courtney), Bridget Crory, Sean Crory, Hugh Crory, Maryjo Crory, Brother Gerard Fretwell, MICM, Peter Fretwell, Maryjosephine Fretwell, Michael Mueller (Laura), Molly Nagale (Dan), Alice Jarbo (Garret), Maryanne Bruggermeister (Joe), Lillian Mueller, Charles Mueller, Elizabeth Mueller, Joseph Mueller, Willliam Mueller, and Anthony Mueller and 43 great-grandchildren, with two on the way. He is greatly loved and will be missed by all.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Latin Requiem Funeral Mass at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 282 Still River Rd. Still River, MA on Friday, Dec. 7 at 10 am. Visiting hours will be held in the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St. Pepperell, MA on Thursday Dec. 6 from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, Charlie's family has requested Masses for the repose of his soul. Donations in his memory may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary School, P.O. Box 1000, Still River, MA 01467.
