Carole Ann Bergeron

Carole Ann (Caliri) Bergeron, age 81, of Pepperell, formerly of Andover, passed away on July 2, 2024 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center following a brief illness. Carole was born on October 8, 1942 in Lawrence, MA a daughter of the late Alphonse J. and Mildred A. (Taylor) Caliri.

Carole spent her early life in Andover, MA, graduating from Andover High School with the class of 1960. She went on to graduate from Bay State Jr. College and worked as a legal secretary for the Department of Defense, from which she retired.

Carole’s love of horses began when her daughter, Deborah, got her first horse, Max. Carole went on to own her own horse, Irish, an American Saddlebred. When Irish passed, Carole bought a foal and named her Madeesa, or “Maddy” as she was affectionately known. Carole participated in horse shows throughout the area and was a member of 4-H. Her love of horses was lifelong and never wavered.

Carole was an avid motorcyclist, getting her motorcycle license in the 1970s. The day she went for her license, the DMV representative tried to convince her of why she should NOT have her license! Not to be discouraged, Carole was ahead of her time.

Carole relocated from Andover to Pepperell in 2012, to be closer to her family. She enjoyed playing Bingo, spending time at her home, gardening, flowers, and tending to her birdfeeders. She was known to splurge on gourmet bird seed for the neighborhood birds.

Carole is survived by her daughter, Deborah Philbrick and husband Randy of Ashby; grandchildren Randy Jr., and wife Elizabeth of Manchester, NH, Kevin of Lunenburg, and Ashley of Wilton, NH; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Skylar, Jackson, Stephen, Kinleigh, Audrey, Colin, and Evelyn; and two great-great-grandchildren, Emberly and Isle.

Visiting hours will be held in the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Thursday, July 11th from 4 – 6 pm, concluding with a brief prayer service. Burial will private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assocation, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 (www.alz.org).
