Carl T. Voigt, 88, of One Great Rd., Acton, MA, passed away on May 3, 2024 peacefully in his sleep after many years living bravely with Dementia.
Carl was born on January 6, 1936 to Christina (Criukshank) Voigt and Carl Oscar Voigt in the city of Methuen, MA. He attended Lawrence High School and left to help support his family. In his free time, he loved to Jitterbug at local Central Catholic Dances. He often talked about his travels and adventures on a road trip through Route 66 and working summers at The Poland Springs Resort in ME.
He later attended Barber School and proudly started his own Barber Shop in Lawrence MA. He also provided Barber services for a local long term care facility in the area. After leaving Barbering he worked in various companies as a laborer, in maintenance framing pictures and manufacturing.
Carl is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Lorna (DePetrillo) Voigt of Lawrence, MA. They married on September 13, 1964. They went on to have four children: a son, Carl T. Voigt, Jr. of Pepperell, MA, a daughter, Stacey (Voigt) Lowe and her spouse, Bennie Lowe, Jr. of Pepperell, MA, son, Erik Voigt and his wife Dana of Uxbridge, MA, a daughter, Kristen (Voigt) Russell and her husband, Jason Russell of Pepperell, MA. Carl had seven Grandchildren: Anastacia, Bennie, Zander, Avianna, Colby, Krista and Tyler, and five Great Grandchildren: Madison, Lylah, Oliver, Everett and Ivy Mae - all of whom he loved to spend time with and watch grow!
Carl worked hard to provide for his family and had a strong belief in education and reading, being an avid reader himself. He enjoyed reading about Ancient History, Archaeology, and Biographies. Family meant more to him than anything else in the world. After a hard day of work he was known for cooking his special spicy tomato sauce and pasta on Wednesday afternoons for his grandchildren he often babysat after school in their elementary years.
Carl was also passionate about woodworking and restoring or repurposing vintage furniture and items well before the DIY trend! He could often be found in his workshop surrounded by his project's tools, paint, and too many extension cords. He was called affectionately by close family “The King of Duct tape” a crown he wore proudly! We will all cherish the items he made for each of us, especially the tiny pyramids he enjoyed creating!
Carl was predeceased by his younger brother Bruce Voigt of Atkinson NH, whom he enjoyed watching The New England Patriots with and taking trips to Patriots Place for preseason events with his nephew Jesse.
Lastly, Dad we forever love you dearly and yes we will always come back and remember you ❤️
