Bruce Colgate Wyman

Bruce Colgate Wyman, 77, of Maynard, passed away at home on March 21, 2024 from complications of Parkinson's Disease. Bruce was born on January 30, 1947 in Winchester to Dorothy (Walden) and Reginald Wyman of Stoneham.

After graduation from Stoneham High School, Bruce attended Northeastern University majoring in Business and Boston University where he earned his Master's Degree in Business.

Bruce's first employer was Peat, Marwick, Mitchell where he worked as an auditor. In 1975, Bruce went to work for Digital Equipment Corporation where he held several positions in both finance and management. In 1990 Bruce left Digital for jobs with Fidelity Investments and Factory Mutual Insurance. His career path changed after that and he moved into the Software Consulting field where he held Consultant/Project Manager positions for Deloitte Consulting, Cedar Creststone and CIBER. In this capacity, Bruce traveled extensively managing projects in more than 10 states. He retired in 2017 after being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

In 1990, Bruce married Barbara Misselhorn, formerly of Groton. They resided at Deer Hedge Run in Maynard from 1988 until the present day. Bruce was an active member of the Union Congregational Church in Groton for several years. He also served as President of the Board of Trustees at Deer Hedge Run for a brief period

Bruce had many interests. He was fascinated by Aviation and Space Exploration and had his pilot’s license for a while. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed skiing, tennis, hiking, rafting, boating and snorkeling. His passion was the New England Patriots although he watched virtually every sport.

Other interests included renovating and building things at home, photography, theater, movies, music, history and nature. Bruce and Barbara traveled extensively and Bruce particularly loved cruising. Bruce was adventurous and would go almost anywhere and try almost everything he had the opportunity to do. Above all, Bruce loved spending time with his family and friends--playing games, watching movies, going out or just hanging around at home.

Bruce was much loved by his family and many friends. He was always willing to lend a hand in whatever way he could to family, friends and also strangers. He was a wonderful listener, he was devoted, loving, caring, kind, loyal, gentle, patient, skillful, intelligent, interesting and a "softie" (especially with babies and animals). These are just some of the attributes his friends have mentioned to me in their remembrances of Bruce.

Of all of his characteristics, the most mentioned is his smile, his laugh and his amazing sense of humor. He was funny and his laughter was infectious. He brightened every room he entered and every gathering he was a part of.

Bruce is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Sharon and his father and mother-in-law, Howard and Helen Misselhorn. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Barbara; his daughter Laurel Kinkade of Henniker, NH, her husband David and their children Anna Landry, Emily Lui and Corbin; his daughter Deborah Sills of Sudbury, her husband, Doug and their children Andrew and Katie; his daughter Meghan Gambino of Hopkinton, her husband, Nick, and their children Emma, Mary, Caroline and Molly; and his son, Mark, of Montgomery, TX, his wife, Nathalia, and their sons Aiden and Noah. He is also survived by his nieces, Kim King of Townsend, Jena Kaizen of Chapel Hill, NC and their families and his sister and brother-in-law Karen and Brad Sherwin of Rotunda West, FL.

An invitational celebration in honor of Bruce will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Union Congregational Church of Groton's Accessibility Fund, the Parkinson Foundation or the Michael J. Fox Foundation or to a charity of your choice in Bruce's honor.

Arrangements by McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, Pepperell.
