Alma G. (Cooper) Haskell

Alma G. (Cooper) Haskell of Pepperell passed away peacefully on Saturday May 27th, 2023, at Leominster Rehabilitation following a period of declining health. She was 89 years old.

Alma was born in Patten, ME on November 15, 1933, to parents Lewis Barker Cooper and Estelle Haskell (Hanson) Cooper. She was the loving wife to the late Richard Haskell who passed away in 2005.

Upon her graduation from Pepperell High School in 1952 she was employed as a Preschool Teacher at Pepperell’s first Kindergarten, The Amery School, for several years. She also worked at The Pepperell Braiding Factory, before joining the Department of Contracting on Fort Devens for 25 plus years as a dedicated employee.

She had an incredible artistic talent and found comfort and peace in writing poetry as well as painting. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends.

She is survived by her beloved children, Patrick Goode and his wife Terri of Lawrenceville, GA, Brett Haskell of Jacksonville, FL, Tracey McHugh and Scott Simas of Pepperell, MA, Amanda Conaway and her husband William of Brookline, NH.

She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren Kevin Howard, Rosemary and Nathan Haskell, Ian and Maggie Conaway, Chelsea and William Goode as well as her great-grandson, Miles Mulligan.

She was predeceased by her brothers Roger and David Cooper, her sister Shirley Lynch, and her granddaughter, Mary Howard.

Visiting hours will be held in the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St., (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Thursday, July 13th from 5 – 7 pm concluding with a prayer service at 7 pm. Alma will be laid to rest during a private family ceremony at Association Cemetery, Pepperell. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alma’s honor may be made to the Lowell Humane Society at www.lowellhumanesociety.org
